Danny Blind admits that he would have liked his son Daley Blind to turn out for Ajax for his entire career, something he would have found "beautiful".

Danny, an Ajax legend who led the side to the 1995 Champions League, started his own career with Sparta Prague before being snapped up for Ajax in 1986 by Johan Cruyff.

The centre-back remained with the Amsterdam giants until he eventually hung up his boots in 1999.

Danny's son Daley, who joined Manchester United last summer, was formed in the youth ranks at Ajax and broke through into the senior team in 2008.

His father knows the picture in Dutch football has changed, but admits he would have loved Daley to see out his career with Ajax.

"I would have considered it beautiful if Daley had remained with Ajax throughout his football life", Danny told ELF Voetbal.

However, the current Netherlands assistant coach accepts that turning down an offer from Manchester United is an extremely difficult thing for a player to do.

"Yes, when a club like Manchester United come you obviously don't run away."

Daley has made 16 appearances in the Premier League for Manchester United so far this season as he settles into English football after winning four Eredivisie titles with Ajax.

His contract with Manchester United runs until 2018.
