Davide Santon's agent has confirmed a purchase clause has kicked in which will keep his client at Inter on a permanent basis.

The Italian full-back joined Inter on loan from Newcastle United in the winter transfer window and the agreement contained a clause which would compel the Nerazzurri to buy Santon for around €3m if he made over ten appearances.

Santon's appearance in Inter's Europa League defeat to Wolfsburg last night took him to the ten-game threshold and the player's agent has now confirmed that the defender will be staying in Milan, dubbing his return to his former club "perfect".

Renzo Contratto told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Let's say the redemption by Inter is official.

"It has been a perfect return to Milan and there is satisfaction.

"It is too bad that it does not coincide with the results of the team."

The agent also talked up Santon's talent, explaining that his spell at St. James' Park has helped him to grow as a player.

"He played 100 games in the Premier League, the top league in the world, so it is normal he has developed.

"He will still develop", the agent concluded.

Inter coach Roberto Mancini is thought to have been pleased with Santon's performances and now the defender is firmly part of the former Manchester City manager's plans for next season.
