West Ham goalkeeper Adrian has not lost hope of breaking into the Spain squad, but admits that with the quality his country possess in goal, it is going to be complicated.

The 28-year-old Spaniard joined West Ham from Real Betis in 2013 and since then has been the first choice goalkeeper for the Hammers, but he has failed to attract the attention of his national team.

In fact, Seville-born Adrian has not played for Spain at any level and despite being an established Premier League goalkeeper, has failed to come to the notice of Vicente del Bosque.

Despite being ignored by Spain at all levels, Adrian has not lost hope of playing for his national team and is still confident of breaking into the Spain squad at some point in his career.

The Spaniard told AS: “I feel qualified, of course.

“Until now, the coach has seen fit to take other goalkeepers, but you never stop hoping that you will reach the desired moment.”

Currently Iker Casillas and David de Gea are fighting for the number one jersey for Spain and they have goalkeepers such as Kiko Casilla in their ranks.

Adrian admits that with so much quality to choose from, breaking into the national team will remain a tough ask for him.

“All of them are excellent goalkeepers and to sneak in between them is always going to be complicated.”
