West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic believes that his side's start to their season has been a decent one, but it will be even more crucial to take their form into the festive period.

The Hammers are currently placed sixth in the league table with 21 points from 12 matches, trailing Sunday's opponents Tottenham Hotspur in terms of goal difference.

Bilic feels that it will be crucial to maintain their good form throughout the course of December when the going gets tough with the number of games increasing.

West Ham in fact have two matches left to play this month followed five next month and the 47-year-old feels that it will be crucial to maintain their momentum.

Bilic is well aware of the fact that the situation could change drastically during the period, but insists that his players will approach it with their "eyes wide open".

"Every part of the season is a key part”, Bilic told his club's official website, while speaking about the need to maintain momentum.

"This is the Premier League and it's very demanding and you have to be on your toes and concentrated in August, September, December, March, whenever.

“We are in a good position at this time, but it's only a start.

"It's good to have a good amount of points at this stage and we are confident.

"Of course, it's now November and December when things can change the other way around, but we are approaching this period with our eyes wide open.

“We know what we have to do on a daily basis and in games to maintain our position and to improve.”
