Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville feels James Wilson’s loan move to Brighton will be beneficial for both the player and the Red Devils.
Wilson struggled to get minutes under his belt this season under Louis van Gaal and only made two appearances for Manchester United, leading to questions about his future at the club.
Van Gaal believes the young striker has a future at the club and he allowed Wilson to join Championship high flyers Brighton for the rest of the season last night to aid his development.
While many questioned the Dutchman’s rationale in allowing Wilson to leave, he has found support from former Manchester United skipper Neville, who feels the move will benefit both the club and the player.
The former right-back believes it is better for a young player such as Wilson to get minutes under his belt away from Manchester United, rather than sit on the sidelines at Old Trafford.

The former Manchester United captain took to Twitter and wrote: “People ‘Shocked’ Wilson leaving on loan. Why? He hasn't played and is a lad who needs to play all the time at his age. Better for him and Manchester United.
“Lot of young lads end up age 22 with only 50 games under their belt through waiting in the wings.
“Get them playing and learning.”
Wilson could make his debut for Brighton against Birmingham tomorrow at the Falmer Stadium.
