Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has revealed his picks for the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards for the ongoing domestic season in Scotland.

The Scottish Premiership campaign has entered the final lap with just four games remaining between now and the end of the season.

Celtic are primed to lift their eighth consecutive league title owing to a nine-point lead at the summit over Rangers and will be eyeing wrapping things up as quickly as possible.

And as the season enters its climax, Ferguson has revealed his picks for the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards for the ongoing domestic campaign.

The Gers legend feels the race for Player of the Year is between Alfredo Morelos and Callum McGregor and backed the Rangers marksman to edge it in the end.

“I think it’s the same for me [regarding the Player of the Year award]”, Ferguson said on the PLZ Soccer show.

“Morelos, 29 goals this season, I know he’s had his problems on the pitch with the sending offs and bookings, but for me, I think he will win it.

“Callum McGregor is an outstanding midfielder, he can play the holding role, he can play number 10, he can play on the left side, he can even fill in at left-back.

“So for me it’s between the two of them.”

Ferguson also feels that his nephew Lewis Ferguson deserves to be named Young Player of the Year in Scotland after an impressive first full season of senior football with Aberdeen this term.

“I’ve got Lewis, my nephew [for the Young Player of the Year award]”, he continued.

“He’s had a fantastic season and he’s added goals to his game.

“I’m not going [to back him] because he is my nephew, I do think Lewis has had an outstanding season for Aberdeen.

“This is his first full season and he has been a mainstay in that Aberdeen first team.”

Ferguson was named Player of the Year in Scotland on two separate occasions during his time with Rangers.
