West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has admitted that looking at the Premier League table can be gutting for the Hammers, who have finished tenth.

The London outfit snatched a 4-1 win at Watford in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday afternoon to finish two points ahead of the Hornets.

The deep-lying midfielder was an instrumental part of Hammers' Premier League campaign, featuring 34 times in the English top flight this season.

West Ham ended their season winning the last three games, and while that ended the campaign on a good note, Rice is not happy that the Hammers came close to seventh, but missed out.

Speaking to West Ham TV, the England international said: "We finished five points off seventh so if you look at it that way, it’s gutting, but it was a great season.

"I think the lads have really worked hard and everyone deserves a really well-rested break, because people don’t really see what goes behind the scenes.

"We’re in every day, training hard, so it was nice to win on Sunday."

On a personal note, Rice however believes there is no doubt he had a good campaign.

"For me personally, I don’t think I could have wished for a better season.

"I’m delighted to have done what I’ve done and I can’t wait to kick on again next season."

West Ham will be looking to improve further next season, with boss Manuel Pellegrini expected to make additions.
