The Yorkshire giants have abandoned the idea of signing Ben White after Brighton turned down multiple offers for the centre-back.

Leeds still want to sign a centre-back this summer, something which has led them to turn their attention towards 24-year-old Koch and they are working towards signing him.

Discussions over a potential deal took place over the weekend and Germany international is open to a switch to the Premier League and Elland Road in the ongoing window.

Leeds are expected to table a formal bid with Freiburg this week and it has been claimed that they want Koch in the building by the start of next week.

The Whites will be in action next Tuesday when they will take on Stoke City in a pre-season friendly.

Leeds want Koch to be part of the preparations for their first game in pre-season and are working towards getting the deal over the line in the next few days.

Koch has been part of Freiburg’s pre-season preparations as well and did play in a game last Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa wants a new centre-back in his squad as soon as possible as he looks to prepare Leeds for their first Premier League game of the season against Champions Liverpool on the opening day.
