The 20-year-old midfielder is in fine form and has scored eight goals and provided nine assists across all competitions for Red Bull Salzburg so far this season.

Szoboszlai’s performances for the Austrian club have seen him garner the attention of top clubs across Europe, including Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham.

What makes the Hungary international an attractive prospect for the January transfer window for many clubs is the €25m release clause in his contract.

However, Szoboszlai’s admirers would need to pay the clause in full just two weeks from triggering it, with no instalments available.

Given the current football landscape, the full payment requirement could cause a number of the Hungarian’s suitors pause for thought.

And Szoboszlai’s potential buyers would also be required to agree to a 20 per cent sell-on clause, which applies to the entire future transfer fee rather than just the profit.

Another stipulation in the agreement requires the player to inform Red Bull Salzburg of his wish to leave the club by 15th December and bids must be lodged by end of the month for a transfer to be sanctioned in January.

If Szoboszlai stays at the club beyond January, the same stipulation comes into effect again in the summer, with notice having to be given by 30th June and offers having to be made by 15th July.
