The Serie A giants crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday night after they played out a 0-0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Antonio Conte was expected to build on Inter’s campaign last season, but the Nerazzurri have endured a difficult Champions League group stage campaign.

The Inter boss has been demanding more reinforcements in the winter transfer window to further improve his squad.

But their Champions League exit has angered the Inter hierarchy and, according to Italian daily Tuttosport, they are likely to deny Conte new players in the winter window.

Inter expected Conte to take the club into the second round of the Champions League and that would have meant more money into their coffers.

The Serie A giants have not only crashed out of the Champions League, but they will also not be involved in Europe this season after finishing bottom of their group.

Conte wanted to sign Giroud in January from Chelsea but it seems the Inter board are likely to deny any further request for reinforcements from the Inter boss.

The Frenchman has scored five goals in his last two starts for Chelsea and there are suggestions he could stay at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season.
