Clarkson is one of the most highly rated players in Liverpool’s youth set-up currently and has already been handed outings at senior level by Jurgen Klopp.

As a reward for his development as a player, Klopp also handed the 19-year-old his Champions League debut against Midtjylland this week.

While Clarkson is held in high regard by the staff at Anfield, now there is a question of whether his further development would be best served with a loan stint elsewhere or continuing to remain around the Premier League champions’ senior squad.

The Reds could loan out Clarkson, but it is claimed that any move will depend on how they do in the FA Cup.

Liverpool visit Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup early in January and advancing in the competition could see Clarkson remain at the club.

The teenager made his full debut for the Reds in an FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town last season and could receive more playing time in the tournament in the current campaign as well.

Clarkson attracted loan interest from clubs in the Championship and Europe in the past and is likely to have suitors again, and possibly more teams after his European debut.
