The north London outfit will be in the market for a new creative midfielder this summer if they cannot make Martin Odegaard’s loan move from Real Madrid permanent.
Brandt, who was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the winter, could emerge as an option for Arsenal again, with Borussia Dortmund said to be open to selling him.
Addressing the Gunners’ links with Brandt, goalkeeper Leno revealed that he texted the Borussia Dortmund star after reading about the midfielder’s potential move to England.
Leno lifted the lid on his positive relationship with Brandt while at Bayer Leverkusen and explained that he would be delighted to reunite with the player at Arsenal, but admitted that he is unsure if the Gunners are planning to move for him.
“I read the rumours with Arsenal and wrote him a few messages right away“, Leno told German television channel Sport1.
“But I don’t really know if there is anything to it.
“In any case, I would be happy if he came.
“Jule is a good friend, we had a very good time at Leverkusen and privately we were often out for one or two beers.
“Maybe we can experience that again in the future.
“He’s also invited to my wedding, which unfortunately cannot take place this year.
“We will do that next year.“
Brandt has scored four goals and provided two assists from 44 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season.
