Kane is Manchester City’s top target this summer and the club have held discussions with Tottenham over taking the forward to the Etihad in the ongoing transfer window.

But Tottenham are clear about not wanting to sell the player and the club are determined to hold on to their talisman.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has not been happy about the way the saga has played out publicly and has hardened his resolve to keep Kane at the club.

It has been claimed that Manchester City have been clear that a deal would have to include players going the other way, but Spurs will not entertain that.

Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez were mentioned in the discussions..

Even if the players wanted to go to Tottenham, it would likely affect the club’s current wage structure.

Spurs have also been assuring their potential managerial candidates that Kane will not be sold this summer.

The 27-year-old wants to move on from Spurs as he wants to compete for the biggest trophies.

But the transfer saga is expected to rumble on beyond the European Championship and drag on for several weeks.
