Giroud’s contract was extended by another year Chelsea in April but he has been heavily linked with a move away from the Blues.

AC Milan have been in talks with the player’s representatives for months and he is their priority target in attack this summer.

They have worked out personal terms on a contract with Giroud and are now waiting to close out the agreement soon.

And according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, they want the deal done and dusted by the end of the week in order to have Giroud in for pre-season by the middle of this month.

But AC Milan are now depending on the player to convince Chelsea to let him go this summer.

The player’s entourage convinced the Rossoneri that Chelsea would agree to let him out on a free transfer even after his contract was extended.

The Serie A giants are now banking on the player to keep his word and work out his release with Chelsea.

AC Milan do not want to pay a transfer fee and that was communicated to the player’s representatives early in the negotiations.

The Rossoneri are hopeful that by the end of the week they will get some positive news from Giroud’s camp.
