The Argentine attacker’s future has come under the scanner in the ongoing transfer window with several clubs believed to be interested in signing him.

Inter have mulled a bid, but prefer other options at present, while Premier League side Everton have now put in a proposal as they look to win the race for Correa’s signature.

Sarri stressed that Correa is a quality player, but indicated that he wants to leave Lazio this summer.

The Lazio coach insisted that he has been a thorough professional on the training pitch, even though he does not believe Correa is in the right frame of mind to play in games for the club at the moment.

Sarri, asked about Correa ahead of the game against Empoli, explained in a press conference: “We are talking about a good player, but he has expressed his ideas about his future in very difficult times.

“He is not in the ideal mental condition to play in games.

“He is behaving very well, in training he is giving everything.”

Everton are prepared to offer a lucrative contract to Correa to convince him to move to England.

The Argentine though prefers a switch to Inter as it would reunite him with former Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi.
