The striker is heavily linked with leaving his current club VVV-Venlo, who suffered relegation from the Dutch top flight last season.

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic are keen on adding another attacking option to their ranks before the transfer window slams shut and have zeroed in on the Greek hitman.

The Hoops have made multiple approaches to land Giakoumakis but are yet to find success, with the striker also having an offer on the table from 2. Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.

And according to German daily Bild, the striker has decided to take up the German side’s offer over Celtic.

Werder Bremen are not matching Giakoumakis’ annual wage demands of around €700,000, but he still prefers a move to Germany over the Scottish top flight.

However, whether Giakoumakis will join Werder Bremen in the coming days still remains to be seen as it is claimed they have an alternative striker option in their sights that could be preferred over the Greek.

With any deal yet to be struck between Giakoumakis and Werder Bremen, Celtic still remain in the race to land him although they are trailing the Germans.
