Ndombele is yet to play a single minute of football under new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo, including pre-season, and he is heavily linked with parting ways with the club.

The Frenchman has notified Tottenham that he is prepared to leave the club this month before the clock runs out on the transfer window.

However, with less than 48 hours remaining in the window it has emerged that Ndombele is likely to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond the ongoing transfer widow.

Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici worked hard on securing an exit for the midfielder, exploring the possibility of a loan deal or a swap, but any move is yet to materialise.

But Ndombele did have interest in his services from two La Liga outfits this summer, owing to his situation at Spurs.

The Spanish clubs registered their interest in the 24-year-old through his agent or directly to Spurs, but not a single approach was deemed satisfactory by the player and the north London giants.

Ndombele arrived at Spurs from Lyon for a whopping €62m and it remains to be seen whether he can get into Nuno’s good books as the season progresses if he stays at the club.
