The Hammers have signed Alphonse Areola and Kurt Zouma this summer, but are keen to strengthen their squad further before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

West Ham are said to have an agreement in place for CSKA Moscow star Nikola Vlasic, while Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard is still under consideration.

And now, West Ham have reached a verbal agreement with Eredivisie giants Ajax over the transfer of Tagliafico, according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

The Premier League side are claimed to have agreed to pay the Dutch top flight club a fee in the region of €12m for the Argentine.

While West Ham have an agreement with Ajax, the deal is not considered done yet as they still have to agree personal terms with the left-back

West Ham’s initial offer of a four-year contract was not acceptable for the Argentina international and it remains to be seen if they return with an improved proposal.

With less than two days remaining in the transfer window, the Irons face race against time to get a deal for Tagliafico across the line.
