The Tractor Boys have already made 18 additions to their squad this summer, but are keen to add to that before the transfer window slams shut.

Middlesbrough midfielder Morsy is one player Ipswich have been looking to sign and they appear to have struck a deal for him.

The League One club have brokered a deal to sign the Egypt international from Neil Warnock’s side before today’s transfer deadline.

Morsy has accepted the drop down to the third tier and put pen to paper on a deal with Ipswich in the final hours of the transfer window.

At Ipswich, the 29-year-old will link up with Paul Cook, who he has worked with at Chesterfield and Wigan Athletic previously.

There had been suggestions that Middlesbrough would not sanction a move for Morsy unless they bring in a replacement.

Middlesbrough completed the signing of James Lea-Siliki from Rennes on loan today, making a transfer for Morsy possible.
