The 24-year-old returned to training with Rangers in the summer after missing the whole of last season due to a cruciate ligament injury.

Katic has been available for selection since the start of the 2021/22 season, but is yet to make an appearance for Steven Gerrard’s side.

While Rangers have helped Katic regain fitness during the summer, they are aware of the need for the defender to get regular playing time.

Aware of the need for Katic to earn playing time, the Light Blues are set to allow him to join a Croatian club on a loan deal.

With just hours remaining in the transfer window, the Croatia international is expected to join a club back home on a temporary deal.

Rangers are said to have included an option to recall Katic from the loan in their agreement with the Croatian club.

The Scottish champions will be monitoring the centre-back’s progress throughout the course of the campaign as he looks to get back up to speed.
