The 24-year-old striker’s future at Inter was under the scanner in the summer due to interest from Tottenham who wanted to take him to the Premier League.

The north London club also tabled a bid worth €90m for the striker, but Inter rejected the offer from Tottenham in order to keep the Argentine.

The Serie A champions were not prepared to sell another top striker after letting Romelu Lukaku join Chelsea in the summer.

A new contract is being negotiated and, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, the fresh terms will not have a release clause in them.

The Argentine’s current contract has a €111m buy-out clause but no such figure will be inserted in the new deal.

The terms are still being discussed and Inter are prepared to treble his current salary in order to satisfy Martinez.

His agents have also been assured that Inter will consider offers for him that will correspond to his value in the market.

The Serie A champions are now confident that Martinez will soon sign on a new contract with the club.
