Koumetio has risen through the ranks of Liverpool’s youth set-up after joining the club from French side US Orleans in January 2019.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut for Jurgen Klopp’s team last year, coming on in their 1-1 draw with Midtjylland in the Champions League.

Koumetio was then linked with a loan move in the summer transfer window, with Blackburn Rovers said to be interested in signing him.

While a move did not materialise in the summer, the central defender could be in line for a loan switch in January as several clubs are scouting him.

Koumetio is being scouted by several clubs in the Championship and could move away from Liverpool on a temporary deal in the winter.

It is said that several scouts were present for Liverpool Under-23s’ match against Derby County on Saturday, in which the defender scored and helped his side to a 3-1 win.

Apart from Koumetio, left-back Antony Gallacher was also watched by a couple of Scottish clubs on Saturday.
