Lingard will be out of contract at the end of the season and he has been looking at the summer as a way to secure a free transfer away from Manchester United.

West Ham have been chasing him since last summer and are still hopeful of getting their hands on him this month.

Tottenham are interested in signing him on a free transfer in the summer, but Newcastle are emerging as a possible destination for Lingard this month.

The Magpies are working on a loan deal to take Lingard to St. James’ Park in the ongoing transfer window.

Such a deal would represent the only way for Manchester United to secure a significant fee from Lingard’s departure.

Newcastle are also prepared to cover the entirety of the midfielder’s £100,000-a-week wages for the rest of his Manchester United contract.

Lingard is yet to commit to a move and is believed to favouring moving to a London club, boosting West Ham’s hopes.

However, Newcastle are pushing to secure him on loan for the rest of the season as they look to survive in the Premier League.
