Bailly has not been happy at Old Trafford for some time due to his lack of opportunities and is open to a loan move this month.

The 27-year-old defender has emerged as a target for AC Milan, who are in the market to bring in a centre-back before the end of the transfer window.

AC Milan have been considering a number of options but Bailly has remained on their radar and talks between Manchester United and the Rossoneri are ongoing.

But according to French outlet Foot Mercato, the negotiations between the two clubs have hit a roadblock on the key aspect of his salary.

Manchester United are only prepared to sanction the Ivorian’s loan if AC Milan are ready to accept taking over his full wages.

The Premier League giants do not want to enter a salary-sharing agreement with the Rossoneri.

Bailly is on a considerable salary and AC Milan are wary of taking responsibility for 100 per cent of his wages.

The defender also has another Italian suitor in Roma but they are not in any advanced negotiations to sign him.
