Tottenham were believed to be close to agreeing on a deal to sign the winger from Wolves in the ongoing transfer window.

Wolves rejected their first offer of £15m but the negotiations between the two clubs were on track and Spurs were expected to complete the deal before Monday’s transfer deadline.

But the deal is now off and Traore is not expected to join the north London club in the next four days.

It has been claimed that despite the two clubs working towards an agreement, the player had serious reservations about the move.

Traore was not sure about wanting to play wing-back, the position Antonio Conte wanted him for.

It appears to have ended the north London club’s pursuit of the winger in the ongoing window.

The Spaniard is now closing in on a move to Barcelona who are currently in negotiations with Wolves.

The Catalan giants are working on signing him on loan from Wolves with an option to buy the 26-year-old for around €35m.

Traore has 18 months left on his current contract and has no intention of signing a new deal with Wolves.
