Barkas has struggled for game time at Celtic since arriving at the club in the summer of 2020 and a change in leadership with the arrival of Ange Postecoglou has also not improved his chances.

The Greek is down the pecking order at the Hoops and is aware that he has little chance of earning regular game time under Postecoglou.

Barkas is keen on leaving the Glasgow giants this month and his agents have been hard at work to find him a new club in the ongoing window.

However, with only three days left in the transfer market, Barkas’ chances of exiting Parkhead are rated as low.

The shot-stopper has attracted interest from south of the border in the shape of several Championship clubs and also from two other foreign sides, but is yet to receive any offers.

Barkas is surplus to requirements at Celtic but as it stands, he is set to remain at the club at least until next summer.

It remains to be seen whether the Hoops can still find a suitor for the shot-stopper before Monday’s deadline.
