Broja is currently plying his trade at Southampton on a season-long loan deal from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Despite a slow start to his Saints stint, the striker has found his rhythm in front of goal under the tutelage of Ralph Hasenhuttl and has become a fixture in their attacking department.

The south coast side are keen on making the 20-year-old’s move permanent and are in constant contact with the Blues to strike a deal, but are reportedly facing strong competition from league rivals Newcastle.

It has been claimed that the newly rich Magpies tabled a £33m offer for Broja and are looking to hijack Southampton’s efforts to snap him on a permanent basis.

However, claims that the Tyneside giants have slapped in a bid for the Chelsea starlet are wide of the mark.

Southampton are yet to make a bid for Broja, contrary to claims and are not expected to strike a deal over him before the window slams shut on Monday.

Newcastle meanwhile are now edging closer to sealing a deal for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, while they continue to hunt for a more additions in attack and in defence.
