The 25-year-old midfielder is not part of Antonio Conte’s plans and Tottenham are pushing to loan him out before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Lyon have been trying to sign the Argentine midfielder and they have an agreement in place with Tottenham to sign him on loan for the rest of the season.

The midfielder is reportedly still waiting to give his nod of approval to a move to Lyon and he is also wanted at Spanish club Villarreal.

The La Liga club have been in contact with the player’s entourage and are keen to sign him but according to Spanish daily AS, Villarreal cannot sign him unless they move on someone before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Unai Emery and the Villarreal hierarchy believe that Lo Celso would be a top signing in the middle of the season.

But unless Villarreal can shift out a player in the next 48 hours, they will not be able to sign the Argentine.

Lo Celso would prefer a move back to Spain over joining Lyon but for the moment Villarreal cannot sign him.

It remains to be seen whether Villarreal can move on a player before Monday’s deadline in order to revive the negotiations for the midfielder.
