The 25-year-old centre-back has been heavily linked with a move away from Marseille in the ongoing transfer window.

West Ham have been tracking him since last summer and are interested in taking him to the London Stadium in the next couple of days.

The talks are ongoing between the two clubs as West Ham push to sign him on loan with an option to buy, while Marseille want a permanent sale.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Marseille have already identified potential replacements if Caleta-Car leaves.

There are suggestions that West Ham’s chances of signing the defender are not as high as previously anticipated.

The two clubs are yet to see eye to eye on a number of details, including the structure of a potential deal.

However, Marseille are prepared should the Croatian leave for West Ham before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The French club are ready to make moves for a few defenders if the Hammers sign Caleta-Car in the next 48 hours.
