Having settled on Frank Lampard to become their new manager, Everton are now trying to back him in the remaining hours of the January transfer window.

Donny van de Beek is expected to join from Manchester United on a loan deal and is undergoing a medical with Everton this morning.

Everton also want Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain though and are eyeing re-signing their former player.

PSG had been looking to shift out a midfielder this month to make room for Tanguy Ndombele, but none of their players were keen to go and a move for the Tottenham man collapsed.

Now Everton are trying to sign Gueye, however it is rated as unlikely that the deal will happen.

There could be twists and turns on deadline day, but Everton currently look unlikely to be able to welcome Gueye back to Goodison Park.

Everton sold Gueye to PSG in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £30m.
