The 30-year-old has largely remained as a fringe player at St James’ Park and is yet to start a single Premier League game so far this season.

Hendrick only has one league appearance under new boss Eddie Howe, who does not see him in his plans at the club.

The Magpies have added to their midfield options by roping in Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon in a big money move.

Guimaraes’ arrival has further pushed Hendrick down the pecking order at the Tyneside giants and they are keen on offloading him

And the 30-year-old is now set to move to Championship outfit QPR in the final hours of the transfer window.

The Hoops are challenging for an automatic promotion spot back to the top flight and Hendrick is in line to join their ranks and help them seal a comeback to the Premier League this season.

Hendrick is also credited with interested from QPR’s league rivals Middlesbrough.
