The striker arrived in Barcelona earlier today to put the finishing touches to his loan switch from Arsenal and was booked in for a medical with the Blaugrana.

However, the deal was still dependent upon Arsenal and Barcelona reaching an accommodation on Aubameyang’s substantial Emirates pay packet.

That has not happened and as such the loan move has collapsed.

There is time left in the transfer window for the deal to be put back on track, but it would need a change in Barcelona’s financial situation.

Aubameyang will now have to head back to London from the Spanish city.

The 32-year-old is firmly out of favour at Arsenal and was stripped of the club captaincy by boss Mikel Arteta earlier this season.

He may now have to wait until the summer to be able to secured an exit from Arsenal and revive his career.
