The Saints are giving an more focus to adding promising youngsters to their squad and have already snapped up a number of highly rated starlets in recent years.

Tino Livramento, Thierry Small and Dynel Simeu are among the young players Southampton have added to their ranks, with all three of them coming from academy set-ups of rival Premier League clubs.

Southampton are now eyeing roping in another young talent in the shape of Spurs midfielder Craig.

The 18-year-old is part of Spurs youth system and is invited by the south coast side for a trial at the club as they look to potentially seal a permanent swoop for him.

Craig joined Tottenham’s academy almost six years ago and is currently part of their Under-23s squad.

Although the midfielder is yet to make his first team debut for Spurs, he has earned a place in the matchday squad twice this season under former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

It remains to be seen whether the teenager will be able to impress while on trial and get a move to Southampton.
