Bowen has played a key role in the Hammers maintaining their top four charge in the Premier League this season, contributing up front with both assists and goals.

The winger already has eight goals and ten assists in 25 outings this season, more than he managed in both areas in the entirety of last season.

However, Bowen’s West Ham team-mate Antonio has insisted there are no secrets to the winger’s increased attacking returns this season as he has always been able to score goals, but stressed more chances are dropping for him on the final third, which he has grabbed with both hands.

Asked whether there is any secret to Bowen’s upturn in form, Antonio said on the Footballer’s Football Podcast: “No, to be fair, I will not say there are any secrets.

“Jarrod’s always been able to score goals.

“You could see it from his stats at Hull [City], even when he was here, he scored quite a few goals last year and got a few assists.

“So, he has always been able to score goals.

“But I just feel like in football, you kind of need things just drop for you, that is what is happening.

“And the thing is he could have easily have had more goals but ‘keepers are pulling up some unbelievable saves from him as well.”

Antonio added that Bowen is making the right runs on the pitch to make the most of attacking opportunities that have come his way this season, but he has not changed as a player in any other sense.

“Things are just falling for him nicely and he is making the right runs.

“I will not say he has changed much, it is just things are going right for him and things are falling for him.

“He is getting at least two chances a game.”

While Bowen is on fire at the moment, Antonio is going through a personal goal drought, not finding the back of the net in his last five top flight outings and fans will be hoping he will also start firing again.
