Spurs were looking to bring in a new centre-back in January but were unable to do so and have now turned their attention to bolstering that position in the summer.

Inter star De Vrij, who Spurs boss Antonio Conte knows from his stint at the San Siro, is one name the Italian is keen on signing in the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman’s current deal at Inter expires at the end of next season, but Conte could look to bring him to the north London giants ahead of his first full season at the club.

However, according to Italian outlet Fcinternews.it, De Vrij is showing no intention of moving on from the San Siro and is instead looking for a new deal at Inter.

De Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola is waiting for a clear answer from the Inter hierarchy on what plans they have for his client’s future.

Inter and De Vrij reached an agreement over a new deal until 2026 for the player worth €4.5m per season a year ago, and the player’s entourage want to see whether those terms are still valid.

At present, Raiola is not looking for a new club for De Vrij as he wants to sign on fresh terms at Inter, despite having admirers in the shape of Tottenham.
