The 19-year-old midfielder will enter the final year of his contract at Ajax in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Dutch giants.

The teenager is wanted at several big clubs in Europe and Manchester United have extensively scouted him, which could lead to a swoop to take him to Old Trafford.

Gravenberch is believed to favour a move to Bayern Munich in the summer with suggestions that conversations have already taken place between Nagelsmann and the young midfielder.

The Bavarians having held talks could have been a blow for Manchester United’s hopes, but Gravenberch insists he has not spoken to Nagelsmann.

He told ESPN Netherlands: “No, I haven’t spoken to him.”

The midfielder also refused to confirm that he will be leaving the Dutch champions in the summer transfer window.

He stressed that he is still enjoying his time at Ajax and does not want to say whether he will leave.

“I have played three seasons in the first team and I am still enjoying myself at Ajax.

“It’s quite a difficult question to answer.”
