The 29-year-old centre-back will be out of contract at Chelsea in the summer and for the moment, the club cannot offer him a new deal.

The negotiations stalled before sanctions were imposed on Chelsea, but the defender is reportedly preparing to wait for the new owners to offer him fresh terms at the end of the campaign.

But his agent has been holding talks with several clubs and Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are interested in him.

And it has been claimed that Barcelona have now entered the race and are looking to snap Rudiger up on a free transfer.

The Catalan giants held talks with the agent of the defender on Wednesday as part of the plan.

The meeting went on for more than three hours as Barcelona pitched their case to the defender’s agent.

Barcelona are already close to signing one Chelsea defender in Andreas Christensen on a free transfer in the summer.

And it seems the club are now pushing to sign one more Blues defender at the end of the season in a similar deal.
