The Hammers have made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League and are now being considered one of the favourites to win the tournament.

But those hopes have received another body blow as West Ham are set to be without another centre-back for the rest of the season.

Diop picked up an ankle injury towards the end of West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Burnley and initial test results are not positive.

The Frenchman could be out for eight weeks, which means he will miss the rest of the season for the club.

West Ham are already missing Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma for the rest of the campaign and Diop has now added to David Moyes’ woes.

It leaves Moyes with only one fit senior centre-back in Craig Dawson for the last month or so of the season.

The West Ham manager now have a decision to make on whether to push Ben Johnson to play alongside Dawson or promote Jamal Baptiste, 18, or Aji Alese, 21, from the academy.

The Hammers are seventh in the league table at the moment and are gunning for European glory this season.
