The 22-year-old defender will enter the final year of his contract at Freiburg in the summer and is expected to move on from the German club in the next transfer window.

Newcastle wanted to sign him in January and remain keen, while Tottenham have added him to their target list for the summer, but Borussia Dortmund are believed to be the club leading the race to get his signature.

Schlotterbeck has reportedly given his approval to a move to Dortmund but for the moment the Bundesliga giants are struggling to reach a compromise over a fee with Freiburg.

However, the defender is insistent that no decision over his future has been made yet despite the speculation.

He stressed that he will wait until the end of the season before taking a call on his next step.

Schlotterbeck told Sky Deutschland: “I read that [the rumours of him approving a move to Dortmund], but I can say that nothing will happen until the end of the season.

“I said I’ll make my decision after the season, nothing has changed about that.”

Schlotterbeck is considered a big talent in Germany, with Bayern Munich also believed to be interested in him and it remains to be seen if he will play in the Premier League next term or stay in the Bundesliga.
