De Jong’s future at Barcelona has come under the scanner ahead of the transfer window due to interest from Manchester United.

Incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the player, who played under him at Ajax, and wants to reunite with him at Old Trafford.

The midfielder is believed to be one of the priority targets for the Dutchman as he prepares for the life of being the Manchester United manager at the end of the season.

And according to Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito TV, Barcelona are ready to sell him if a certain amount of money is paid for him in the summer.

There were suggestions that Barcelona are not interested in selling him and technical director Jordi Cruyff also ruled out letting him go on Sunday.

However, it has been claimed that if an offer of €70m is presented to Barcelona, the club would be prepared to let him go.

Barcelona’s financial condition is still not at its best and the club would find it hard to ignore big-money offers for some of their players.

With Pedri and Gavi emerging in the squad, Barcelona believe that De Jong is a player they could be prepared to sacrifice to raise funds.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United take up the bait and pursue De Jong’s signature in the summer.
