Rudiger has decided to leave Chelsea on a free transfer in the summer and is expected to finalise his next destination in the coming days.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have been interested in him but the German is likely to be on his way to Spain.

Real Madrid are close to finalising the agreement and signing him on a free transfer in the next transfer window.

But according to German broadcaster Sport1, the best financial offer the defender had on his table was from Manchester United.

It has been claimed that the Red Devils made a serious play to sign him and offered him a contract worth €10m.

But Rudiger decided against moving to Old Trafford.

The defender was not keen to play for another club in England after leaving Chelsea and has been looking for a change of scenery.

Manchester United’s likely absence from next season’s Champions League also did not help their cause in their attempt to sign the centre-back.
