The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is currently on loan at Austria Vienna and is scheduled to return to RB Leipzig at the end of the season.

He will have a year left on his contract with the Bundesliga club in the summer, but he is not believed to be part of Leipzig’s plans moving forward.

Rangers are interested in signing him and are trying to convince him to move to Scotland ahead of next season.

However, they face serious competition as, according to German daily Express, three Bundesliga clubs are poised to make a move for him as well in the coming weeks.

Martel remains coveted in Germany and 1.FC Koln, Union Berlin and Freiburg are interested in securing his services in the summer window.

Rangers are facing a stiff fight in their attempts to convince the midfielder to consider a move to Ibrox.

They have been keeping tabs on Martel for a while and will push for his signing in the summer.

Martel is a Germany Under-21 international and came through the ranks at Leipzig’s academy.
