Gli Azzurri are likely to fail with their efforts to win Serie A this season, but have started plotting their transfer strategy for the forthcoming transfer window.

The Naples giants are looking to renew centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly’s contract and are also keen to bolster their backline in the summer by bringing in new defenders.

Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is in the process of compiling a list of potential transfer targets, which also includes a name from the Premier League.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Southampton star Bednarek is on Napoli’s transfer radar ahead of the summer window.

The Poland international is a fixture under Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl but Napoli could look to take him to Italy following this season.

Bednarek is contracted at Southampton until the summer of 2025, but he is one of the names under consideration at Napoli as a potential summer signing, along with the likes of Fenerbahce’s Kim Min-Jae.

It remains to be seen whether the Serie A giants will indeed pounce on Bednarek when the summer transfer window swings open.
