Laimer has been one of Leipzig’s standout players this season and his performances on the pitch have seen him draw attention from a host of top clubs across Europe.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, along with Manchester United, are admirers of the midfielder, while Liverpool and Tottenham are also keen on him.

Laimer’s current deal at Leipzig expires in the summer of 2023, but he has insisted that he does not want to be drawn into talk about his future at the club, as it could cause unrest.

The 24-year-old explained that he will decide on what to do with his career after the conclusion of the current campaign, and stressed all options are open to him.

“There’s no point in having talks about it [possibly extending my contract] at this crucial stage of the season”, Laimer told German magazine Sport Bild.

“Otherwise, there would only be unrest and I would have to think about things that aren’t the most important things at the moment.

“That’s why I’m currently focused on finishing this season and afterwards think about what my next step is.

“It can go in any direction.”

Laimer is known for his high work rate and pace and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Spurs will provide him with a pathway to Premier League football in the summer.
