Kamara will be out of contract at the end of the season and will be leaving Marseille on a free transfer this summer.

His future has been a subject of speculation for months as several teams have been linked with an interest in signing him, including Jesse Marsch’s Leeds.

Aston Villa though are taking the initiative in the transfer chase and Steven Gerrard recently made a personal trip to watch Kamara in action for Marseille.

And it has been claimed that Aston Villa are set to hold conversations with his representatives in the coming days.

The Midlands club want to add Kamara to their squad ahead of next season and are hopeful of convincing him to move to Birmingham in the summer.

Aston Villa are prepared to offer him a five-year contract to move to Villa Park in the coming weeks.

There are at least five clubs interested in Kamara but Villa are hoping to beat the competition to his signature this summer.

It remains to be seen if the development will cause Leeds to step up their efforts for the highly rated player, but they may need to know which league they will be playing in next season first.
