Henderson has only played three times this season and he is not prepared to spend another year on the sidelines at Old Trafford.

He is desperate for regular football and Newcastle are prepared to offer him an escape route out of Manchester United in the summer.

The England goalkeeper is Newcastle’s top target as Eddie Howe looks to bring in a top-class shot-stopper in the next transfer window.

And it has been claimed that Newcastle are prepared to offer a deal worth £40m to take Henderson to St. James’ Park in the summer.

The Magpies are prepared to splash the cash to sign Henderson on a permanent deal from Manchester United.

They tried to get hold of him on deadline day in January but the negotiations failed due to Martin Dubravka’s refusal to move to Old Trafford as part of the deal.

Manchester United are yet to make a final decision on Henderson with new manager Erik ten Hag yet to meet him.

The club are more likely to consider loaning him as he still has a contract until 2025 worth £110,000 per week.
