Nketiah’s future at the Emirates Stadium is under the scanner as his current deal at the club expires next month.

The 22-year-old struggled for game time for the majority of the recently concluded Premier League season, but finished off the campaign on a strong note.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has repeatedly tried to convince the Arsenal academy graduate to remain at the club, but he is yet to agree to sign on fresh terms.

As it stands, Nketiah is set to become a free agent and he is attracting serious interest from the Gunners’ Premier League rivals in the likes of Crystal Palace, who are prepared to move for him again, having failed to sign him in January.

But the Eagles could face strong competition for the striker’s signature as Newcastle are also keeping tabs on his situation in north London.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe’s top priority in the summer is to sign a new striker and they are keeping a close eye on how Nketiah’s future plays out at Arsenal.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will pounce on Nketiah, who is good friends with Joe Willock, if he departs Arsenal in the summer.
