The Addicks parted ways with Johnnie Jackson at the end of the recently-concluded season after a campaign where they were expected to fight for promotion from League One.

Instead, they finished mid-table and although when Jackson took over in October they were in the relegation zone, he was still shown the door once the term finished.

The Addicks fans are awaiting the announcement of the new manager and one of the names being linked is Swindon Town boss Ben Garner.

There are claims that the League One club are close to appointing the manager who led the Robins to the League Two playoffs in the 2021/22 campaign.

The Addicks insist however that they are still in discussions with candidates other than Garner over taking up the mantle at the Valley.

Aston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale has been linked with the Charlton job, but he has been approached by Championship side Queens Park Rangers and the Premier League outfit have hopes of keeping him.

Garner has previously managed at League One level with Bristol Rovers and his performance at Swindon has piqued the interest of Charlton but nothing has been decided yet.
