Gil arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer, but struggled for game time at the club, despite high expectations being attached to him.

The Spaniard was allowed to join Valencia on a six-month loan deal in January, and he managed to impress back in his native Spain.

Valencia are claimed to be keen on signing Gil on loan again and requested Tottenham allow him to join them ahead of next season.

However, Tottenham have knocked back Valencia’s loan request for the winger, and made it clear that they should only contact them about him at the end of August, provided he is available for a transfer.

And according to Radio Marca Valencia, Tottenham will not take a decision on Gil’s future early in the summer window.

Spurs want Gil to be at the club during the early part of the summer and want him to move to a club that can offer him Champions League football or at least the Europa League, should they decide to let him go.

Even though Gil is tipped to not play a role in Antonio Conte’s plans for Tottenham, they want to protect his value and as such do not want to let him join a club that cannot offer European football.
