The 25-year-old centre-back signed a new contract with Torino earlier this year but he has always been expected to leave the Italian club this summer.

Several clubs in Italy are interested in signing him and Bremer is on the shortlist of targets for Antonio Conte at Tottenham as well.

Torino want around €35m to €40m from his departure this summer but his suitors have a reason to wait until January to sign him.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, a release clause worth €15m will come into effect in his contract at the start of the next January window.

Torino will lose control over the situation if Bremer stays at the Italian club for the first half of next season.

The Italian club want to sell him this summer in order to maximise their profits from his sale at this stage.

However, for the moment, no club have been prepared to meet Torino’s asking price.

It remains to be seen if sides might wait until January to snare a bargain.
